Elon Musk’s X, formerly known as Twitter, is launching a test program called ‘Not a Bot’ in New Zealand and the Philippines. In this program, new, unverified users in these countries will have to pay a $1-a-year subscription fee to post and interact with other posts. The goal of this program is to combat spam, manipulation, and bot activity on the platform. Existing users will not be affected by this change. X’s current subscription plan, X Premium, offers verification and increased visibility of posts for $8 a month.
